Stanford Women in Data Science ( WIDS ):
WIDS the Stanford Women in Data Science Conference is a worldwide one-day technical conference. This event is held the same day every year and is live streamed worldwide. The event provides an opportunity to hear about the latest data science-related research in a number of domains. People learn how leading-edge companies are leveraging data science for success. It allows attendees to connect with potential mentors, collaborators, and others in the field. The Global Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference is aimed to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide. This annual conference was held at Stanford University and 80+ locations worldwide via live stream or delayed broadcast. The Auckland event was hosted by Katarina Kolich New Zealand’s main Standford WiDs ambassador. The event free to attend thanks to the New Zealand sponsors who were BNZ, LPS and the University of Auckland.

LPS was very excited to sponsor such a huge WIDS event which was live streamed worldwide. Over 200 Data Scientist attended the Auckland event which was held in the Engineering building at the Auckland University. The Auckland event had a great line up of speakers at the forefront of Data Science in New Zealand. The female speakers included Liz MacPherson, Professor Rosalind Archer, Angie Judge, Pieta Brown, Agate Ponder-Sutton, Dr Lisa Chen, Amanda Hughes, Dame Diane Robertson, Kat Kolich and Emma Vitz who are all passionate about data science.The Bios’s of the speakers can be found here on the WIDSNZ website. LPS GM of Australia also spoke at the event as she has a large Data Science team already over in Australia.
